FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Nancy Meek Formally Announces Candidacy for North Carolina Senate District 45

Long time public servant and community leader Nancy Meek announced today she is running for North Carolina General Assembly Senate District 45. The seat is now open following Senator Dean Proctor’s announced retirement.

Meek said, “Today, I am honored to announce my candidacy for the North Carolina Senate. A love of North Carolina and a lifetime of service have brought me to this day. Together we can uphold conservative values to build a better foundation ‘where the weak grow strong and the strong grow great.‘”

Meek added, “Senator Dean Proctor, who has served our area well both in the Senate and as a successful business and civic leader, is retiring at the end of this term. Dean’s encouragement and tutelage have kindled my desire to continue serving our great citizens, this time in the North Carolina Senate.”

“While we are fortunate to live in a beautiful, productive state we must protect our natural resources, educate our future workforce, guard our quality of life and honor our veterans.”

“Please join me in helping build common sense policies based on the needs of local citizens.”

In her announcement Sen. Dean Proctor endorsed Meek. “Nancy has worked around our political landscape for many years. She is very knowledgeable and will represent our community extremely well. I look forward to her service and she has my full endorsement.”

Meek has served in a variety of roles in the community, including on the Hickory Public Schools Board, serving as Chair from 1999 to 2001. She is an active member of her church with her husband of 43 years, Bob Meek.

The Primary Election Day is March 5th, 2024.
